چکیده

The aim of our study was to investigate the main characteristics peripheral blood NKT cell phenotype in patients with disseminated purulent peritonitis (DPP) dynamics postoperative period, depending on disease outcome. Fifty-two acute surgical diseases and injuries abdominal organs complicated by DPP, 68 healthy individuals control group, were examined. Blood sampling performed before surgery (preoperative period), as well day 7, 14 21 period. All DPP divided into two groups outcome period: favorable (n = 34); unfavorable 18). Study lymphocytes flow cytometry using direct immunofluorescence whole samples monoclonal antibodies. low relative absolute level cells observed regardless preoperative At same time, returned normal only after surgery. Patients end examination period had normalized quantity mature NKT-lymphocytes significantly decreased cytotoxic which apparently associated migration such subsets site inflammation. A reduced non-classical (expressing CD8 marker) cytokine-producing detected these treatment. high CD11b+ already while increased proportion expressing activation markers (CD28 CD57) that immediately outcome, it recovered closer examination. defined features characterize disturbances subset ratio mechanisms functioning this fraction. This determines a need develop immunotherapeutic methods aimed at stimulating immunoregulatory activity cells.

Background: Recently, excellent results are reported on laparoscopic lavage in patients with purulent perforated diverticulitis as an alternative for sigmoidectomy and ostomy. The objective of this study is to determine whether LaparOscopic LAvage and drainage is a safe and effective treatment for patients with purulent peritonitis (LOLA-arm) and to determine the optimal resectional strategy in...

Diet quality affects allergic peritonitis in mice.

Reasons for the increased prevalence of allergies observed in recent decades remain elusive. Here, we used a murine model to investigate the effect of nutrition on ovalbumin-induced allergic peritonitis. Compared to the organs of mice kept on a standard diet, mice exposed to a low quality diet during the growth period showed a decrease in the mass of metabolic (liver and heart) and, to a much l...

Fatal Disseminated Tuberculous Peritonitis following Spontaneous Abortion: A Case Report

We describe a rare case of fatal disseminated tuberculous peritonitis in a young woman with rapid progressive clinical course following spontaneous abortion of 20-week gestation. Clinical and laboratory findings were initially unremarkable. She underwent diagnostic laparoscopy which revealed numerous tiny implants on the peritoneum and viscera. Histopathology showed chronic caseating granulomas...

Stem cell marker CD133 affects clinical outcome in glioma patients.

PURPOSE The CD133 antigen has been identified as a putative stem cell marker in normal and malignant brain tissues. In gliomas, it is used to enrich a subpopulation of highly tumorigenic cancer cells. According to the cancer stem cell hypothesis, CD133-positive cells determine long-term tumor growth and, therefore, are suspected to influence clinical outcome. To date, a correlation between CD13...
